Renovation Work Marion Homeowners Can Count On

Greater Charlotte Contracting handles home renovation in Marion, NC, covering everything from roofing and siding to full kitchen and bathroom remodels. The owner, Clint, has more than 20 years of hands-on construction experience and is on-site for every project, not managing from an office. Seventeen Google reviews average five stars, which reflects a straightforward approach: accurate estimates, no inflated prices, and work that holds up. If you're weighing contractors for a renovation project in Marion, call (704) 957-5323 and get a straight answer before you commit to anyone.

Marion sits in McDowell County, where older housing stock and mountain climate conditions create specific renovation demands that a general contractor needs to understand before swinging a hammer. The City of Marion Building Inspections Department issues permits for additions, structural modifications, and exterior renovation work, and a contractor or property owner must be present for every required inspection, with 24-hour scheduling notice required. Marion's tap water carries an EPA Safety Grade of C due to past compliance concerns, so older plumbing fixture replacements and bathroom remodels here often involve an extra look at supply lines that a less attentive contractor would skip. We factor that in.

What We Handle in Marion

From a single-room refresh to a full exterior overhaul, the scope is wide and the work stays in-house.

Roofing

Repair, full replacement, and inspection. Mountain weather in the Marion area is harder on roofing systems than most homeowners realize until a leak shows up. We assess what's actually failing before recommending a replacement.

Kitchen Remodel

Layout changes, cabinet work, tile, and finish details. Clint's initial quote has a track record of landing close to the final number, which customers like Andy Malenke have specifically called out in reviews.

Bathroom Remodel

Full remodels and tub replacement as a standalone service. Older homes often have original fixtures that need full replacement rather than a patch job, and we scope that honestly upfront.

Siding and Exterior Work

Siding replacement, exterior repairs, and window recapping. We don't subcontract exterior work out to a crew we can't vouch for. Robert Persinger's review described Clint making a subcontractor tear down sub-par work and redo it correctly.

Handyman and Repairs

Drywall repair, painting, drywall installation, and the smaller jobs that other contractors decline. Robin Christopher's review noted that Clint showed up in the rain for a job others skipped because it was too small.

Restoration

Water damage and storm damage restoration. Danielle Long's review specifically mentioned Clint moving quickly after water damage in her home. We're clear about scope: this is general damage repair, not a franchise disaster-restoration operation.

Marion Permits

Permitted Work in Marion: What Homeowners Should Know

The City of Marion Building Inspections Department requires permits for all additions to existing residential property and for any new structure 12 feet or greater in any dimension. Required inspections cover footers, foundations, rough-in framing, plumbing, roofs, and electrical upgrades, and 24-hour notice is required to schedule each one. A contractor or property owner must be present on-site when the inspection happens. We handle permit coordination for covered work in Marion and we don't skip steps to move faster. Skipping an inspection is how a repair becomes a problem the next owner discovers. North Carolina's frost line depth for exterior water supply piping applies here too, so any exterior renovation work that touches buried supply lines gets handled at the correct depth.

The Owner Is at Your Job Site

  1. 01

    Honest Estimate First

Clint walks the job, scopes it accurately, and gives you an itemized estimate. Sharon Ruiz called it reasonable. Andy Malenke said his final number matched the quote. That's the standard, not the exception.

  2. 02

    On-Site Through Completion

This isn't a company that sells you the job and sends a crew you've never met. The person you talk to is the person on the roof or in your kitchen, start to finish.

  3. 03

    Work That Passes Inspection

Marion's permit process requires the contractor or owner to be present at each inspection. We schedule them, show up, and make corrections on the spot if needed, not two weeks later.

Energy Upgrades

North Carolina Energy Rebates for Marion Homeowners

North Carolina's Energy Saver NC program offers rebates through the HOMES and HEAR programs for eligible single-family households in Marion pursuing energy efficiency upgrades and high-efficiency electrical appliances. If you're planning home improvements that include insulation, exterior work, or HVAC-related modifications, it's worth checking eligibility before the project starts. We can factor potential rebate-qualifying work into how we scope a project so you're not leaving money on the table. Every job is different. Contact Greater Charlotte Contracting for an accurate estimate tailored to your Marion property.

What Marion Customers Say

5.017 verified Google reviews
Clint did such a great job helping us replace some outdoor vent covers. We had a basket style vent cover that had cracked and birds had nested inside. We had previously tried other handymen that would say they would come out and never showed because it was a small job. Clint came out very quickly, in the rain, and made it so much more efficient and esthetically pleasing. He was very affordable and professional. Clint is the MAN! He will now be our go to guy for other projects. I highly recommend him!

So, I just wanted to first of all thank Liz for the great referral to get my home project done. I was a bit nervous however after meeting Clinton, I can’t thank him and his team enough for the job well done to my satisfaction. Clinton listened to what I wanted and delivered just that. Clinton not only listened also very professional and knowledgeable. He gave me a step by step timeline and actually stuck to it. That’s very rare to find in a contractor however his team was awesome and went above and beyond my expectations with the attention to detail. So my rating is really a 10/10. I had a simple garage make over.

Let. Me . Tell . You . Something . Clint is GREAT! He’s done a major project on my home and I couldn’t ask for a better experience with a general contractor . Our current project is converting a half bath to a full bath downstairs . And as I’ve stated everything has been great and it’s not complete but I’m that pleased with the way things have come along to write a review . Communication is very important in things like these and he is nothing short of amazing with his communication and professionalism ! If there was ever a doubt on who to select for your next project , don’t doubt . Reach out to Greater Charlotte Contracting !

Communication through the whole process was outstanding, the job was completed on time and his initial quote was very accurate with nothing going over budget. I highly recommended Greater Charlotte Contracting and will be using them again for future projects.

Had a great experience working with Clint and Greater Charlotte Contracting. He did great work in a reasonable amount of time and for a reasonable price. I have had a few home projects I’ve needed to complete within the last few months and he has not only provided me great service with these projects, but also has had great referrals for work outside of his scope of business. I would highly recommend anyone looking for work to be done in the Charlotte area to work with Greater Charlotte Contracting.

Frequently asked questions

Does Greater Charlotte Contracting do renovation work in Marion, NC?
Yes. We serve Marion and the McDowell County area for a full range of renovation work: roofing, siding, kitchen and bathroom remodels, drywall, painting, handyman repairs, and exterior work. The owner, Clint, is on-site personally, not dispatching a crew from a distance. Call (704) 957-5323 Monday through Friday, 8AM to 6PM, to discuss your project. Every job is different. Contact Greater Charlotte Contracting for an accurate estimate.
Do I need a building permit for my renovation project in Marion?
Most likely, yes. The City of Marion Building Inspections Department requires permits for additions to existing residential property and for new structures 12 feet or greater in any dimension. Required inspections cover footers, foundations, framing, plumbing, roofing, and electrical upgrades. A contractor or property owner must be on-site at each inspection, and 24-hour notice is required to schedule one. We handle permit coordination for all covered work in Marion so the inspection process doesn't stall your project.
Marion's tap water has an EPA safety grade of C. Does that affect renovation work in older homes?
It's worth considering, especially for bathroom remodels and plumbing fixture replacements in older Marion homes. Water quality issues can accelerate corrosion in older supply lines and fixture connections. When we're scoping a bathroom remodel or tub replacement in Marion, we look at supply line condition before pricing the job, not after. That's how you avoid a bathroom project turning into an unplanned plumbing repair halfway through.
How far is Greater Charlotte Contracting from Marion, NC?
Greater Charlotte Contracting is based in the Greater Charlotte area and serves communities across the region, including Marion and McDowell County. We schedule Marion projects Monday through Friday, 8AM to 6PM. We don't offer emergency or weekend service. Call (704) 957-5323 to discuss scheduling and availability for your specific project.
Can Greater Charlotte Contracting handle both the roofing and exterior renovation on a Marion home at the same time?
Yes, and that's often the smarter way to approach it. Bundling roofing and exterior work, siding, window recapping, and exterior repairs into a single project means one accurate estimate, one schedule, and one point of accountability. Older homes frequently need both at the same time anyway. We scope exterior projects honestly so you know what's actually necessary before work starts. Every job is different. Contact Greater Charlotte Contracting for an accurate estimate.
What renovation work in Marion might qualify for North Carolina energy efficiency rebates?
North Carolina's Energy Saver NC program offers rebates through the HOMES and HEAR programs for eligible single-family households pursuing energy efficiency upgrades and high-efficiency electrical appliances. Marion homeowners planning exterior insulation, window replacements, or related home improvements may want to check eligibility before the project starts. We can factor that into how we scope the work so qualifying improvements are captured. Contact Greater Charlotte Contracting to discuss your Marion project and what might apply.
