Stanley Renovation Work We Actually Do

Greater Charlotte Contracting handles home renovation in Stanley, NC, roofing, kitchens, bathrooms, siding, and general contracting work on homes throughout the 28164 ZIP code. If you're looking at a project and wondering who actually shows up and does the work themselves, that's Clint, and he's been in roofing and construction for over 20 years. We carry a 5-star rating across 17 Google reviews, and every estimate is scoped honestly, no padding, no inflated materials costs. Call (704) 957-5323 and we'll talk through what your project actually needs.

Stanley's housing stock tells a specific story. Most homes here were built somewhere between 1970 and the late 1990s, which means a lot of original roofing, older bathroom tile, kitchens that haven't been touched in decades, and siding that's earned some wear. The red clay soil common throughout this part of the Piedmont doesn't drain well, and the 28164 area carries an extreme flood risk designation, so if you've got a basement or crawl space, that's worth factoring into any renovation conversation early. Gaston County handles building permits for Stanley, and a zoning permit from the Town of Stanley is required before you can pull a county building permit. We know that process and work through it so you don't have to chase two offices yourself.

What We Renovate in Stanley Homes Stanley

One contractor, one relationship, from the roof down to the basement floor.

Roofing

Roof repair and full replacement on homes throughout Stanley. Clint started in roofing over 20 years ago and still gets on the roof himself. We don't hand off that inspection to someone else.

Kitchen Remodel

Full kitchen renovations, layout changes, new cabinets, countertops, tile work, and everything in between. Stanley kitchens from the 80s and 90s often haven't been touched since they were built.

Bathroom Remodel

Full bathroom remodels and tub replacement as a standalone job. Older Stanley bathrooms frequently have original fiberglass tubs that have simply run their course.

Siding and Exterior

Siding repair, replacement, and full exterior renovation work. Stanley's severe weather exposure, tornadoes, tropical storms, heavy thunderstorms, puts real stress on exterior materials over time.

Restoration

Water and storm damage restoration for Stanley homes. The extreme flood risk in the 28164 ZIP is real, and when water gets in, scope matters. We'll tell you exactly what's damaged and what isn't.

Handyman Services

Smaller repairs and handyman work that most contractors won't take on. No job's too small to do correctly. Vent covers, drywall patches, exterior repairs. We've done them all.

How a Stanley Renovation Gets Done Done

  1. 01

    Honest Estimate, Itemized

Clint comes to your Stanley home, walks the project, and writes up a detailed estimate. What's included is listed out. What it costs is explained. Nothing is bundled to obscure a number.

  2. 02

    Permits Pulled, Work Starts

For permitted work, we navigate the Gaston County building permit process and the Town of Stanley zoning requirement. You don't have to figure out which office does what.

  3. 03

    Owner On-Site, Project Finished

Clint stays involved through the whole project. Not managing from a phone, on the job. Work gets checked before it's called done, and if something's not right, it gets fixed.

Local Context

Older Stanley Homes and What They Actually Need Actually Need

Here's something we see on nearly every Stanley renovation: the homeowner budgets for one thing and discovers two or three others once we get into the work. That's not a contractor problem. It's what happens with homes that are 40 or 50 years old. We'd rather find it early than have you find it after the walls are closed back up. The red clay soil throughout this part of Gaston County doesn't give water anywhere to go quickly. Couple that with the flood risk profile in 28164 and you've got conditions that age crawl spaces, soffits, and lower-story exterior materials faster than the rest of the house. We check for those things when we're scoping a project. Winter lows in Stanley can reach around 10 degrees Fahrenheit, which is cold enough to matter for windows and doors that aren't sealed right. Energy loss through older windows in a 1979 Stanley ranch isn't just uncomfortable. It adds up. If a remodel touches those walls, we'll tell you what we see. Every estimate is scoped to what the house actually needs. Call (704) 957-5323 Monday through Friday, 8AM to 6PM.

What People Say About Working With Clint

5.017 verified Google reviews
Clint did such a great job helping us replace some outdoor vent covers. We had a basket style vent cover that had cracked and birds had nested inside. We had previously tried other handymen that would say they would come out and never showed because it was a small job. Clint came out very quickly, in the rain, and made it so much more efficient and esthetically pleasing. He was very affordable and professional. Clint is the MAN! He will now be our go to guy for other projects. I highly recommend him!

So, I just wanted to first of all thank Liz for the great referral to get my home project done. I was a bit nervous however after meeting Clinton, I can’t thank him and his team enough for the job well done to my satisfaction. Clinton listened to what I wanted and delivered just that. Clinton not only listened also very professional and knowledgeable. He gave me a step by step timeline and actually stuck to it. That’s very rare to find in a contractor however his team was awesome and went above and beyond my expectations with the attention to detail. So my rating is really a 10/10. I had a simple garage make over.

Let. Me . Tell . You . Something . Clint is GREAT! He’s done a major project on my home and I couldn’t ask for a better experience with a general contractor . Our current project is converting a half bath to a full bath downstairs . And as I’ve stated everything has been great and it’s not complete but I’m that pleased with the way things have come along to write a review . Communication is very important in things like these and he is nothing short of amazing with his communication and professionalism ! If there was ever a doubt on who to select for your next project , don’t doubt . Reach out to Greater Charlotte Contracting !

Had a great experience working with Clint and Greater Charlotte Contracting. He did great work in a reasonable amount of time and for a reasonable price. I have had a few home projects I’ve needed to complete within the last few months and he has not only provided me great service with these projects, but also has had great referrals for work outside of his scope of business. I would highly recommend anyone looking for work to be done in the Charlotte area to work with Greater Charlotte Contracting.

Questions About Renovation Work in Stanley

Do Stanley homes typically need permits for renovation work?
Yes, and there's a two-step process specific to Stanley. A zoning permit from the Town of Stanley is required before you can apply for a building permit through Gaston County. That's two separate offices. We handle both as part of permitted projects. You don't have to figure out the sequence yourself. Skipping the zoning step is a common mistake that can delay a project significantly.
My Stanley home was built in the 1970s: where do problems usually show up first?
Roofing and bathrooms, almost every time. Homes from that era in Stanley often still have original roof decking that's been through multiple shingle layers, and bathrooms with fiberglass tub surrounds that have been leaking slowly for years without anyone noticing. Kitchens are close behind. The red clay soil here also means crawl spaces and lower exterior materials age faster than the upper structure. We look at all of it when we're scoping a project.
The 28164 ZIP has a flood risk designation: should that affect my renovation plans?
It should at least inform them. If you're finishing a basement or doing anything that affects drainage, the flood risk profile in Stanley's 28164 ZIP code is worth knowing upfront. It doesn't automatically stop a project, but it can affect what materials we specify and how we detail certain areas. We'd rather talk through it at the estimate stage than find out it changes things mid-project.
How far is Greater Charlotte Contracting from Stanley?
We serve Stanley regularly and it's within our standard service area. Mount Holly is a neighboring city, and we work throughout Gaston County. Call (704) 957-5323 Monday through Friday between 8AM and 6PM and we can talk through your project and schedule a time to come out.
Can you handle both exterior and interior work on a Stanley home, or do I need separate contractors?
One contractor for the whole scope. That's the point. Roofing, siding, exterior renovation, kitchen, bathroom, restoration work, we handle all of it. Stanley homes from the 70s and 80s frequently need exterior and interior work at the same time, and coordinating two separate contractors on the same house is a headache you shouldn't have to manage. We scope it together and sequence it so the work doesn't create conflicts.
What does severe weather exposure mean for siding and roofing in Stanley?
Stanley sits in a zone with real tornado, thunderstorm, and tropical storm exposure. That kind of repeated wind and moisture stress shortens the life of exterior materials faster than in calmer climates. Siding joints open up, roof flashing lifts, soffit vents crack. We've seen Stanley homes with siding damage that looks cosmetic from the driveway but has been letting water in for a season or two. A proper inspection catches that before it becomes a structural problem.
