Charlotte Renovation Work, Roof to Remodel

Greater Charlotte Contracting handles home renovation in Charlotte, NC from the roof down to the basement. The owner has over 20 years of hands-on construction experience and is on-site for every project, not managing from an office. Across 17 five-star Google reviews, customers name the same things: accurate quotes, honest communication, and work that holds up. If your Charlotte home needs a roofing repair, a kitchen tear-out, a bathroom overhaul, or exterior work from siding to gutters, one call gets you an estimate from the person who will actually do the job.

Charlotte's older neighborhoods tell the story through the work. Homes in Dilworth, Plaza Midwood, Wesley Heights, and Fourth Ward carry decades of deferred maintenance. Clay-heavy soil in the Charlotte area shifts under foundations and around drainage, which means exterior repairs here often reveal more than they started as. Charlotte also takes a beating from severe weather, including hail, high winds, and the trailing edge of hurricanes. That shows up on roofs and siding every season. Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement handles permits for residential construction work in Charlotte, and Greater Charlotte Contracting knows what those projects require.

What Charlotte Homeowners Actually Call About

From single repairs to full remodels, here is where the calls come from most.

01

Roofing

Charlotte's storm seasons are not gentle. Hail, high winds, and hurricane remnants punch through shingles and flashing every year. The owner has 20+ years specifically in roofing, which is why it anchors every estimate conversation. Repair or full replacement, the scope gets called correctly the first time.

02

Kitchen Remodel

Customers like Andy Malenke put it plainly: the quote was accurate, nothing went over budget, and the finished kitchen was exactly what they wanted. Full gut-and-rebuild or targeted updates, the scope is set before anything gets demo'd.

03

Bathroom Remodel

Converting a half bath to a full bath, replacing a tub, retiling a shower. Liz Zimmerman is mid-project on exactly that kind of job and wrote the review before it was even finished because the process has been that straightforward. See the tub replacement page for specifics on fixture swaps.

04

Siding and Exterior

Robert Persinger hired Greater Charlotte Contracting for siding replacement, painting, and window recapping. He watched Clint make a subcontractor tear down and redo work that wasn't good enough. That's what hands-on ownership looks like on a job site. More detail on the exterior renovation page.

05

Handyman Services

Robin Christopher couldn't get anyone to show up for a small vent cover job. Clint came out the same week, in the rain, and fixed it right. Smaller jobs get the same attention. No job gets dismissed because the ticket is small.

06

Restoration

Danielle Long had water damage and needed someone fast. Clint moved quickly and got the work done. Charlotte flooding is real. Mecklenburg County sees it regularly, and about 11% of buildings carry high flood risk. When something goes wrong, speed matters. See the restoration services page.

Clint did such a great job helping us replace some outdoor vent covers. We had a basket style vent cover that had cracked and birds had nested inside. We had previously tried other handymen that would say they would come out and never showed because it was a small job. Clint came out very quickly, in the rain, and made it so much more efficient and esthetically pleasing. He was very affordable and professional. Clint is the MAN! He will now be our go to guy for other projects. I highly recommend him!

So, I just wanted to first of all thank Liz for the great referral to get my home project done. I was a bit nervous however after meeting Clinton, I can’t thank him and his team enough for the job well done to my satisfaction. Clinton listened to what I wanted and delivered just that. Clinton not only listened also very professional and knowledgeable. He gave me a step by step timeline and actually stuck to it. That’s very rare to find in a contractor however his team was awesome and went above and beyond my expectations with the attention to detail. So my rating is really a 10/10. I had a simple garage make over.

Let. Me . Tell . You . Something . Clint is GREAT! He’s done a major project on my home and I couldn’t ask for a better experience with a general contractor . Our current project is converting a half bath to a full bath downstairs . And as I’ve stated everything has been great and it’s not complete but I’m that pleased with the way things have come along to write a review . Communication is very important in things like these and he is nothing short of amazing with his communication and professionalism ! If there was ever a doubt on who to select for your next project , don’t doubt . Reach out to Greater Charlotte Contracting !

We absolutely love our new kitchen. Clint was so easy to work with. Communication through the whole process was outstanding, the job was completed on time and his initial quote was very accurate with nothing going over budget. I highly recommended Greater Charlotte Contracting and will be using them again for future projects.

Had a great experience working with Clint and Greater Charlotte Contracting. He did great work in a reasonable amount of time and for a reasonable price. I have had a few home projects I’ve needed to complete within the last few months and he has not only provided me great service with these projects, but also has had great referrals for work outside of his scope of business. I would highly recommend anyone looking for work to be done in the Charlotte area to work with Greater Charlotte Contracting.

Straight Quotes, No Inflated Prices

Every estimate from Greater Charlotte Contracting is itemized, accurate, and honest about what the work actually costs.

The owner has said it plainly: customers should get what they need, not what runs up the bill. That means scoping the job correctly, explaining what's going on, and quoting the real number. It's not a policy. It's how the business has operated for over 20 years. Victoria Hitchcock was on her third contractor before finding Clint, after two previous roofs that still leaked. The quote had no hidden charges. The roof held after two straight days of rain.

Charlotte Neighborhoods and Housing Context

A significant portion of Charlotte's housing stock carries real age on it. Dilworth, Wesley Heights, Plaza Midwood, Fourth Ward, Wilmore, and surrounding neighborhoods have homes that haven't had systematic exterior or interior updates in years. That's not a problem; it's just context. Older homes often need roofing and siding addressed before interior renovations make sense, because water infiltration through a failing roof or compromised siding will undo interior work fast. The clay-heavy soil common throughout the Charlotte area also shifts. That affects drainage around foundations, grading near exterior walls, and sometimes how decks and additions settle over time. It's worth understanding before any scope gets written. Charlotte also gets hit by severe weather regularly. Hail and high wind from thunderstorms, hurricane remnants tracking inland, and occasional ice storms all create roofing and exterior damage that compounds if it sits. Greater Charlotte Contracting handles exterior and roofing work across Charlotte and the surrounding area. For handyman services on smaller jobs, the same honest approach applies.

Frequently asked questions

Does Greater Charlotte Contracting pull permits for Charlotte renovation projects?
Yes. Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement handles building permits for residential construction and trade work in Charlotte. For projects that require a permit, Greater Charlotte Contracting handles that process. Skipping permits on renovation work in Charlotte creates problems at resale and with inspections. Any scope that requires one gets handled correctly from the start.
How does Charlotte's clay soil affect exterior renovation and drainage work?
Charlotte's clay-heavy soil, sometimes called bull tallow locally, drains poorly and shifts with moisture changes. Around foundations and along exterior walls, that matters. Grading can settle, drainage paths change, and water can pool in places it didn't before. On exterior renovation projects in Charlotte, the scope often includes looking at how water moves away from the structure, not just the surface work itself.
What kind of roof damage do Charlotte homeowners typically deal with after storms?
Charlotte gets hit by thunderstorms with hail and high winds, hurricane remnants, and ice storms. Hail bruises shingles and cracks flashing. High winds lift edges and tear valleys. Ice creates damming at eaves. The owner has 20+ years in roofing specifically and has seen all of it across Charlotte-area homes. The assessment call is knowing what's cosmetic versus what's letting water in.
Can Greater Charlotte Contracting handle both roofing and interior renovation on the same Charlotte home?
Yes, and that's often the right order of operations. In older Charlotte neighborhoods like Dilworth, Wesley Heights, or Plaza Midwood, it rarely makes sense to renovate a kitchen or bathroom before the roof and exterior are sound. Water infiltration through a failing roof will damage finished interior work. Greater Charlotte Contracting handles both, which means the scope gets set in the right sequence rather than creating rework down the line.
How far out does Greater Charlotte Contracting schedule for Charlotte projects?
Scheduling depends on current workload and project scope. Smaller jobs, like the vent cover repair Robin Christopher needed, can often be turned around quickly. Larger renovation projects, kitchens, bathrooms, exterior overhauls, get scheduled with a timeline set at the estimate stage. Clint provides a step-by-step timeline upfront and sticks to it, as Esther Dueberry noted in her review. Call (704) 957-5323 Monday through Friday, 8AM to 6PM to discuss availability.
What does a home renovation estimate from Greater Charlotte Contracting include?
Estimates are itemized and detailed. Robert Persinger described his as neatly written and perfectly detailed before a major siding, painting, and window recap project. The number quoted is the number charged. Nothing gets added mid-project without discussion. The owner is direct about what the work costs and what drives that cost, including materials, scope, and condition of the existing structure.
Does Greater Charlotte Contracting work in Charlotte's historic or older neighborhoods?
Yes. Homes in Dilworth, Plaza Midwood, Fourth Ward, Wesley Heights, and similar Charlotte neighborhoods are a normal part of the workload. Older homes come with specific conditions: original framing, older roofing substrates, materials that aren't standard anymore. Twenty-plus years of hands-on experience means those conditions get identified and scoped correctly, not discovered midway through a project.
