Mint Hill Renovation Work, Start to Finish

Greater Charlotte Contracting handles home renovation in Mint Hill, NC, covering everything from roofing and siding to kitchen and bathroom remodels. The owner has over 20 years of hands-on construction experience and works every job personally. If you're trying to figure out who to call for a renovation project in Mint Hill, that's the short answer. Five stars across 17 Google reviews, and an accurate quote up front with no padding.

Mint Hill's housing stock skews toward detached single-family homes built in the latter half of the 20th century. That means a lot of the roofs, siding, and kitchens in this area are at or past the point where maintenance becomes replacement. Permits for any structural, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing work in Mint Hill are handled through Mecklenburg County LUESA, and Greater Charlotte Contracting pulls permits correctly so you're not left exposed after the job closes. The town also sits within mapped floodplains tied to five creek systems, which matters if you're finishing a basement or doing any exterior grading work near a stream corridor.

Honest Estimates for Mint Hill Projects

No ranges padded for room, no upsell on work the house doesn't need.

The owner's own words on this: you should get what you need, not inflated prices. That's not a marketing line. It shows up in the reviews. Andy Malenke said Clint's initial quote was very accurate with nothing going over budget. Robert Persinger described the estimate as neatly itemized, perfectly detailed, and very reasonable. Victoria Hitchcock specifically mentioned no hidden charges. Those aren't the results of luck. They come from an owner who scopes the job correctly the first time and doesn't build margin into every line item hoping you won't notice. If another contractor quoted your Mint Hill project significantly higher or significantly lower, call and ask why. Either number probably has an explanation, and you deserve to know it before you sign anything.

Local Permits

Permits and Code in Mint Hill Permits

aging roofs work, project example in Mint Hill, NC
All building permit activity for Mint Hill properties runs through Mecklenburg County LUESA. That covers new construction, structural alterations, and repairs, plus electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. North Carolina sets a minimum frost line depth of 12 inches, which affects how deck footings and exterior structures get built. Greater Charlotte Contracting handles permit requirements correctly. You don't want to discover a permit problem during a home sale or after a storm claim. We've seen what happens when a contractor skips that step, and we don't.

Mint Hill Homes: What Usually Needs Work

Aging Roofs

Homes built in the 1980s and 1990s are at or past typical shingle lifespan. Inspection first, replacement only if warranted.

Worn Siding

Vinyl and wood siding from that era cracks, warps, and lets moisture in. Exterior repairs or full siding replacement depending on condition.

dated interiors work, project example in Mint Hill, NC

Dated Interiors

Kitchens and baths from the 90s are the most common renovation request. Full remodels or focused updates based on what the homeowner actually wants.

Deferred Maintenance

Gutters, doors, windows, and painting that get pushed year over year. We handle the whole list so you're not calling three different contractors.

What Mint Hill Homeowners Say

5.017 verified Google reviews
Clint did such a great job helping us replace some outdoor vent covers. We had a basket style vent cover that had cracked and birds had nested inside. We had previously tried other handymen that would say they would come out and never showed because it was a small job. Clint came out very quickly, in the rain, and made it so much more efficient and esthetically pleasing. He was very affordable and professional. Clint is the MAN! He will now be our go to guy for other projects. I highly recommend him!

So, I just wanted to first of all thank Liz for the great referral to get my home project done. I was a bit nervous however after meeting Clinton, I can’t thank him and his team enough for the job well done to my satisfaction. Clinton listened to what I wanted and delivered just that. Clinton not only listened also very professional and knowledgeable. He gave me a step by step timeline and actually stuck to it. That’s very rare to find in a contractor however his team was awesome and went above and beyond my expectations with the attention to detail. So my rating is really a 10/10. I had a simple garage make over.

Let. Me . Tell . You . Something . Clint is GREAT! He’s done a major project on my home and I couldn’t ask for a better experience with a general contractor . Our current project is converting a half bath to a full bath downstairs . And as I’ve stated everything has been great and it’s not complete but I’m that pleased with the way things have come along to write a review . Communication is very important in things like these and he is nothing short of amazing with his communication and professionalism ! If there was ever a doubt on who to select for your next project , don’t doubt . Reach out to Greater Charlotte Contracting !

We absolutely love our new kitchen. Clint was so easy to work with. Communication through the whole process was outstanding, the job was completed on time and his initial quote was very accurate with nothing going over budget. I highly recommended Greater Charlotte Contracting and will be using them again for future projects.

Had a great experience working with Clint and Greater Charlotte Contracting. He did great work in a reasonable amount of time and for a reasonable price. I have had a few home projects I’ve needed to complete within the last few months and he has not only provided me great service with these projects, but also has had great referrals for work outside of his scope of business. I would highly recommend anyone looking for work to be done in the Charlotte area to work with Greater Charlotte Contracting.

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle permit requirements for renovation projects in Mint Hill?
Yes. Mint Hill building permits run through Mecklenburg County LUESA, and Greater Charlotte Contracting handles the permit process for applicable projects. That includes structural work, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. Skipping permits on a Mint Hill renovation can create problems during a home sale or an insurance claim. We've seen that situation enough times that we don't cut that corner, even on jobs where it would be easier to.
My Mint Hill home was built in the 1990s. What should I have inspected first?
Roofs from that era are the first thing worth checking. A home built in the late 80s or 90s has a roof that's at or past typical shingle lifespan, depending on the original materials and how it was maintained. Siding from that period is the second common issue, especially if it's original vinyl or wood. Clint can walk the exterior and tell you what's actually a concern versus what can wait. Call (704) 957-5323 to set that up.
How does flood risk in Mint Hill affect exterior renovation planning?
Mint Hill has mapped floodplains tied to five creek systems, so flood risk depends on where a specific property sits relative to those corridors. If you're planning basement finishing, exterior grading, or any work near a drainage area, that's worth a conversation before the project starts. We'll flag anything relevant during the estimate so you're not finding out about it mid-project.
Can you handle both roofing and exterior siding on the same Mint Hill project?
That's actually one of the more common combinations in this area. Older Mint Hill homes often need both addressed around the same time, and doing them together avoids scheduling two separate projects and two separate disruptions. Greater Charlotte Contracting covers siding, roofing, exterior repairs, and painting under one contract. Sharon Ruiz mentioned siding, tub replacement, and painting all handled in the same engagement. That's the kind of scope we handle regularly.
Are there energy rebate programs available for Mint Hill renovation projects?
North Carolina offers state-administered HOMES and HEAR programs for energy-saving upgrades, with eligibility based on income. These can apply to certain renovation work depending on what's being done and the homeowner's situation. We don't administer those programs, but if the work you're planning could qualify, it's worth checking with the NC program directly. Every job is different. Contact Greater Charlotte Contracting at (704) 957-5323 for an accurate estimate on the work itself.
Does Greater Charlotte Contracting work in Mint Hill specifically, or only in Charlotte?
Mint Hill is a regular part of the service area. Greater Charlotte Contracting also works in Matthews, Pineville, Indian Trail, and other communities east and southeast of Charlotte. The name reflects the full market, not just the city limits. If you're in Mint Hill and you've had trouble getting contractors to commit to smaller jobs or to show up when they said they would, that's a specific problem Clint hears often. He came out in the rain for a small vent cover job, as one reviewer noted. Small jobs get the same attention.
